Sankadahara Chathurthi Ganesha Abhishekam

Sankadahara Chathurthi is a highly auspicious day dedicated to Lord Ganesha, the remover of obstacles and the giver of wisdom. Observed every month on the fourth day after the Full Moon, it is considered the most powerful day to worship Lord Ganesha. At the Texas Murugan Temple, a grand Ganesha Abhishekam will be performed on September 10, 2025, at 6:30 PM to invoke the blessings of Lord Vigneshwara for success, peace, and prosperity.
Our temple priests, following the Ganapathy Agama tradition, lead the Abhishekam with powerful mantras such as the Ganapathi Atharvashirsha and Ganesha Ashtothram, ensuring devotees receive the divine vibrations of Lord Ganesha’s blessings.Sankadahara Chathurthi is revered as the most potent time to worship Lord Ganesha. The word “Sankata” means difficulties, and “Hara” means remover—thus, Lord Ganesha is invoked on this day to eliminate hardships in personal, professional, and spiritual life.
Scriptures describe that sincere prayers and fasting on this day, combined with participating in Ganesha Abhishekam, bring relief from karmic obstacles and pave the way for auspicious beginnings. Lord Ganesha, as Vighnaharta (the remover of obstacles), is believed to guide devotees towards success, prosperity, and wisdom. We wholeheartedly invite all devotees to participate in the Sankadahara Chathurthi – Ganesha Abhishekam at the Texas Murugan Temple on September 10, 2025, at 6:30 PM.
